The Essence of Wild and Authentic Kogi Coffee
Immerse yourself in the untamed allure of Kogi Coffee, where unadulterated flavors harmonize with authentic tradition. This is the brand's captivating narrative.
Experience the Wild Beauty of Coffee Meticulously handpicked by indigenous hands that have nurtured the land for generations, this coffee is a testament to the symbiosis between humanity and the earth. At The Younger Brothers, we embody a profound commitment to honor the legacy of the Elder Brothers—the Kogi and Arhuaco indigenous communities of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
We strive to restore harmony by sharing the untamed beauty of their land and culture with the world. Our journey is rooted in fair trade partnerships that uplift communities and sustain their pristine environment, embracing a harmonious connection with Mother Nature.
Ancient Knowledge in Every Bean The Kogi tribe has endured since the Pre-Columbian era, and their culture is a true reflection of our past. The Elder Brothers, as they call themselves, have been isolated in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a vast land encompassing every imaginable ecosystem, from sea level to snow-capped peaks.
Coffee is believed to possess the power to share the Kogi's message of environmental preservation with us, the Younger Brothers. With deep respect for their ancient practices, we now offer their coffee to the world, supporting their mission of caring for Mother Earth.
Wild, Sacred, Direct The Younger Brothers Trading Company's mission-driven philosophy sources authentic indigenous products from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountains. This journey began with conservation projects and a decade-long friendship with 'el Cabildo Santos' and the Kogi 'Mamos', the community's spiritual leaders, who have blessed this coffee with their sacred approval.
We certify that the coffee you purchase is directly sourced from Kogi farmers, ensuring direct benefit to the indigenous Kogi families who produced it.
Hand-picked Goodness The coffee you're about to savor is not only organic and free from pesticides and genetically modified beans, but it's also meticulously hand-picked at the precise moment when each cherry reaches its peak ripeness. Drinking a cup of The Younger Brothers Kogi coffee is a truly satisfying experience. Explore our three different roasts: Kogi Medium Roast, Kogi Sauna Family Medium Roast, and Kogi Espresso Roast.
The Kogi: Protectors of the Earth The Kogi are known as the Protectors of the Earth, not because they are warlike, but because they are masters of working in harmony with Mother Nature. They can transform previously toxin-soaked, barren land into lush, thriving ecosystems filled with life, following the wisdom of their spiritual elders, the 'Mamos'.
The Mamos are the elder men of the tribes who serve as priests, judges, and wise counsel. They guide the Kogi people in all aspects of life, from where to plant their coffee to how to raise their crops, always in accordance with the Kogi's "Law of Origin" or "Law of Knowing".
Kogi Coffee is grown in farms that strictly follow the Mamos' guidance, not in the traditional farming sense, but by growing in nature without cutting down other plants and instead alongside sacred plants like the Ayu (coca). This makes their crops not only organic, but as organic as possible.
The Younger Brothers coffee is not certified organic, as the Kogi refuse to go through the certification process, seeing it as an imposition by outsiders. They believe their methods, passed down for generations, are inherently organic and do not require external validation. Instead, we refer to their coffee as "Wild Organic" or "Indigenous Organic".
So while our coffee may not bear an organic certification, it is as pure and organic as nature intended, grown in harmony with the land by the Kogi, the true Protectors of the Earth.
